SUBJECT: Spirit Night Tonight + PTO Updates

Weekly Newsletter - January 21, 2026
President's Message

Hey McKillop Families,

January has been a busy month, and we’re grateful for the thoughtful feedback and engagement we’ve received from families as we work to make PTO efforts more sustainable and meaningful. You’ll see one example of that below with our new approach to staff appreciation funding.

A quick reminder that we’re hosting an open PTO informational meeting for parents and caregivers on Monday, January 26. This is a chance to ask questions, learn how the PTO works, and explore ways to get involved—no commitment required, just an open conversation.

And tonight is an easy way to support the PTO: Spirit Night at Mountain Mike’s Pizza. Dinner plans, solved.

Thank you for being thoughtful partners in how we support our school community.

With Gratitude,

Katy Vendetti, PTO President

Announcements
Staff Luncheon Fund

Our staff works hard for our kids every single day, and one way the PTO says thank you is through monthly staff luncheons or treats.

In past years, room parents hosted luncheons and asked their individual classes to help fund them. We received feedback last semester about the number of asks families were receiving, and we’re trying a new approach this year.

Instead of monthly or grade-level asks, we are making one annual ask in January to help fund staff appreciation meals and treats for January–April and September–November. After this month, we will not ask again until next January, regardless of how much is raised.

So far, $1,647.32 has been raised (about $235 per month). A full staff luncheon for our approximately 100 staff members typically costs $750–$1,000, so if funds are limited, room parents will pivot to other types of treats.

The suggested donation was $20 per child, but any amount is appreciated. Every dollar goes directly toward thanking our staff for all they do.

PTO Informational Meeting

We invite you to join us for a PTO Informational Meeting on Monday, January 26th at 7:00 PM in the HME cafeteria.

This meeting is open to all parents and caregivers and is designed to provide an overview of how the PTO works, how funds are used, and the many ways families can get involved, whether through volunteering, committees, or future board roles. We will also allow time for general questions and discussion.

No prior PTO experience is required, and there is no obligation to volunteer. This is simply an opportunity to learn more and connect.

We hope to see you there!
